Brenda Mathews-Vitello, CRNP
Brenda is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and is a registered provider by the Maryland Cannabis Commission.
Brenda began her nursing career as a bilingual (Spanish/English) Public Health Nurse after graduating from Creighton University’s Accelerated Nursing program in 1992. She worked as a registered nurse (RN) doing home visits for high risk infants and pregnant women, and in Urgent Care in a Farm Working Community in Eastern Washington.
When her husbands job took him to Washington DC in 2001, they relocated to Crownsville, Maryland. Once settled in Maryland she worked as RN on the Governor’s Wellmobile and as a nurse for Hospice of the Chesapeake while pursing a Masters of Science from University of Maryland at Baltimore. She graduated in 2007 and started her career as a Family Nurse Practitioner for Anne Arundel Medical Center’s (AAMC) Outreach Clinic in the Stanton Center, Annapolis. For 6 years she provided primary care for the county’s uninsured and underinsured population. She also has worked with AAMC’s cancer prevention for 10 years to help people quit smoking cigarettes. When Stanton Center office closed she worked in Urgent Care for Annapolis Internal Medicine for 5 years. In this capacity she also had scheduled appointments for Well Women Exams and Medical Cannabis.
Her passions are in promoting mind-body medicine, pain modification and management, weight loss, reduction of pharmaceutical medications through a healthy lifestyle, nutritional counseling, and natural medicine. She has also gone on two medical missions to Ethiopia through the sponsorship of Wide Horizons for Children.
Her personal interests include travel, photography, camping, and spending quality time with her husband John and their pets.
